OMRON VENTURES CO., LTD. (OVC: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Naosuke Kamiya) is pleased to announce that it has invested in Salvador Technologies Ltd. (Salvador Technologies: Israel; CEO: Amit Hammer).

Under its Medium-Term Roadmap “SF 2nd Stage,” OMRON aims to realize GEMBA DX, which leverages OMRON’s strengths in device data and shop-floor data to address challenges at manufacturing sites.

While manufacturing sites are increasingly integrating IT/OT^*1 and utilizing cloud services, the risk of operational disruptions due to system failures and cyberattacks is also increasing.

In this environment, resilience, which involves not only preventing and detecting intrusions but also quickly resuming production operations after a disruption, has become an important societal issue. The NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, released by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on February 26, 2024, also introduced a new “Govern” function and made clear that cybersecurity is not merely a matter of managing IT risks but a corporate responsibility that must be addressed as a management issue.

To address these challenges, Salvador Technologies brings specialized expertise in OT cyber resilience and rapid recovery. Its platform is purpose-built for Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS), helping manufacturers rapidly resume critical operations following cyber incidents and system failures and supporting the operational continuity that underpins OMRON’s GEMBA DX.

Founded in 2020, Salvador Technologies serves industrial enterprises and critical infrastructure operators globally. Its platform combines centralized recovery-readiness management, automated backup, backup-integrity validation, and rapid recovery of critical OT systems, including HMIs, engineering workstations, and legacy systems.

The company’s Cyber Recovery Unit (CRU) supports the rapid recovery of critical OT endpoints by enabling them to boot directly from a physically isolated, validated recovery copy. The platform also provides Centralized Backup & Restore for scalable protection across OT environments.

Under the GEMBA DX strategy outlined in its Medium-Term Roadmap “SF 2nd Stage,” OMRON aims to address challenges at manufacturing sites by combining data obtained from OMRON’s devices, one of the company’s core strengths, with other shop-floor data to generate valuable insights.OMRON Ventures pursues investment activities that contribute to enhancing corporate value through co-creation with startups in line with OMRON’s medium-term roadmap, “SF 2nd Stage.” Salvador Technologies is a promising startup addressing the critical challenge of cybersecurity in manufacturing. OMRON Ventures has invested in the company with the expectation of creating business synergies through co-creation.

Through this investment in Salvador Technologies, OMRON aims to work with the company to advance its Industrial Automation Business Company’s efforts to ensure stable operations and enhance business continuity at manufacturing sites, as well as OMRON Field Engineering’s efforts to provide cybersecurity and recovery support at manufacturing sites, thereby accelerating the realization of GEMBA DX.

■Amit Hammer, CEO, Salvador Technologies Ltd.
Cyber resilience is becoming a fundamental requirement for modern manufacturing. Prevention and detection remain critical, but manufacturers must also be able to recover quickly and safely when disruption occurs. We believe OT recovery will become a core layer of industrial cybersecurity, and OMRON is an exceptional strategic partner to help shape this category. By combining Salvador Technologies’ OT recovery technology with OMRON’s industrial automation expertise, global reach, and presence at the manufacturing floor, we have an opportunity to set a new standard for operational resilience in manufacturing.

■Naosuke Kamiya, CEO, OMRON VENTURES CO., LTD.
We are delighted to announce our investment in Salvador Technologies. As AI adoption expands across manufacturing operations and factories become smarter, OT security is becoming increasingly important. We are confident that Salvador’s innovative technologies and solutions will deliver value to customers by enhancing cyber resilience in OT environments. We look forward to working together to advance GEMBA DX through collaboration between Salvador and businesses across the OMRON Group.

This marks OMRON Ventures’ second investment in the factory automation sector this fiscal year, following our investment in Smart Craft in June. Through our investments, we will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of OMRON’s data services business, supporting its transformation into a “GEMBA DX company” as outlined in “SF2030 2nd Stage” announced by OMRON last November.
