OMRON Taiyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Beppu, Japan; President and CEO: Yuichi Watanabe), a special subsidiary of OMRON Corporation (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan; President and CEO: Yoshihito Yamada) has received the fiscal 2014 Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award of Outstanding Offices for Employment of Persons with Disabilities.

OMRON has posted awareness and practice of corporate citizenship as one of its management commitments. In keeping with this commitment, we pursue various activities of social contribution at our locations around the world. We aim to help heighten the quality of life (QOL) for people challenged by disabilities or other constraints, and to build communities that will help them to lead independent lives and exercise their distinctive talents to the fullest.

OMRON Taiyo in particular was founded in 1972 as Japan's first welfare plant, based on cooperation with welfare facilities, disabled people, and private enterprises. Ever since, it has proactively employed the disabled as a plant that practices our policy commitment in the aspect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to "lead society in employment of and support for the disabled." It posts personnel in correspondence with their particular handicaps and is equipped with an environment facilitating work by all, through adjustment and improvement of facilities. With a staff consisting mainly of employees with diverse disabilities, it is currently involved in production of OMRON's mainstay items as FA relay-use sockets, sensors for photocopier and various types of switches. It was selected for this award due to the high ratings of its long-standing proactive hiring of the disabled, provision of steady employment, conditioning of the work environment, and activities in other areas.

OMRON is going to continue supporting employment of people with disabilities and also efforts by each and every employee to take up the challenge of heightening their capabilities. Furthermore, while continuing our endeavors to bring our corporate philosophy into reality through employment of the disabled, we are determined to assist construction of a society in which both disabled and non-disabled people will feel motivated and find fulfillment.
