Kyoto, Japan - OMRON Corporation has received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Prize (METI Minister's Prize), the top honor in both the Energy Conservation Grand Prix program (hosted by the Energy Conservation Center, Japan) and the New Energy Grand Prix program (hosted by the New Energy Foundation) for 2012. OMRON's award-winning themes are as follows:

2012 Energy Conservation Grand Prix (Energy-saving Activities Category)
Theme: "Eco-conscious Initiative for Diagnostics and Optimization through the Andon Environmental Information System"
(OMRON Ayabe Plant's initiative to reduce environmental impact through production site energy-saving efforts)
2012 New Energy Grand Prix (Excellent Products/Services Category)
Theme: "KP[]K Series Power Conditioner for Photovoltaic Systems"
(Power Conditioner employing OMRON proprietary Anti-Islanding Control Technology (AICOT®))

These prizes were given in recognition of OMRON's ongoing efforts to implement energy-saving activities at its production workplaces, and for the development of technologies capable of supporting the spread of photovoltaic power generation systems. These efforts are aimed at helping maximize energy efficiency in the areas of energy conservation and generation-areas of rapidly expanding demand.
