OMRON to hold a forum on "Creating the Future" at the Expo, featuring Audrey Tang, a TIME100 "Most Influential People in AI" honoree (2023)

  • July 02, 2025

OMRON Corporation (HQ: Shimogyo-Ku, Kyoto. President and CEO: Junta Tsujinaga) announced today that it will hold a forum "Shaping 2050: Natural, Autonomous & Self-Sustaining Society ~Harmonized Society with nature, technology and people~" on October 10, 2025, as part of the EXPO 2025 Theme Weeks "SDGs+Beyond Future Society for Life," to discuss future creation. The program will feature Audrey Tang, a TIME100 "Most Influential People in AI" honoree (2023), Etsuko Ichihara, artist who explores visions of the future through contemporary art and creator of the basic concept for the Japan Pavilion at EXPO 2025, and Shoukei Matsumoto, a member of the Global Future Council on Leadership (2025-2026) as an "industrial monk" who preaches the importance of "long-term thinking" to create a better future to become a "Good Ancestor"

The foundation of this event is the 'SINIC Theory,' a visionary framework for future prediction introduced by Kazuma Tateishi, the founder of OMRON, in 1970--the same year Japan hosted EXPO '70. The theory envisioned a cyclical evolution of human society--beginning with the "primitive society" of hunter-gatherers a million years ago, advancing through the "information society," and culminating in the "autonomous society" by 2025, where humans and machines collaborate independently in pursuit of spiritual fulfillment. This process was predicted as a cycle of social evolution. In recent years, this vision of the future has been attracting increasing attention from global leaders and researchers who resonate with its vision. According to this theory, the year 2033 will mark the beginning of the second cycle of human society, the "natural society", where human creativity and technology are in harmony with natural mechanisms. What does this "natural society" look like--a world liberated from artificial constraints? As we stand on the brink of the "autonomous society," Expo 2025, Japan's first in half a century, will serve as a platform to explore this future and beyond.

OMRON has been using the "SINIC Theory" as a compass for its own business management and also openly sharing it as a compass for society as a whole, working together with various stakeholders to bring about a better society of the future.

OMRON is a co-sponsor of "Expo 2025 Theme Weeks." The Theme Weeks are initiative aimed at creating a "future society for life" together with the world through dialogue among all over the world to resolve global issues. During the Expo, eight different global issues are set for each week, and "dialogue programs" and "business exchanges" are held to promote concrete actions.
