OMRON to Introduce Sixth Wave of Control Panel Equipment for Factory Automation to World, Built on Common Design Platform- Added Main Circuit Devices Cover Categories of Control Panel Equipment, Completing the Largest Model Lineups in the Industry -

  • September 27, 2019

OMRON Corporation (HQ: Shimogyo-Ku, Kyoto. President and CEO: Yoshihito Yamada, hereafter called OMRON) will introduce to the world on October 1, 2019, the sixth wave of factory automation (FA) control devices built on a common design platform for unified product specifications, for further innovation in control panel building. The products will be the following 237 models in 6 categories: J7KC, J7TC, J7MC, J7KCA and J7KCR series Low voltage switching gears, S8V-CP series DC Electronic Circuit Protectors and PTF-□□-PU series Sockets with Push-In Plus technology.

Since the release of the first wave in April 2016, we have expanded the product lineups built on the common platform to 17,250 models in 53 categories, which are the largest in the industry *. The lineups cover almost all devices in the control panel including from control circuit devices such as Machine Automation Controllers and Timers to main circuit devices such as Low Voltage Switching Gears for large currents. The addition of the categories enables users to make more product combinations with common values, contributing to further efficiency in control panel production.

To contribute to reduction of workload and space saving in control panel production OMRON has been innovating in the manufacturing of control panels, the heart of machines and equipment by offering a wide range of products. OMRON unified the design and size of control panel equipment and introduced products which are built with the company's proprietary wiring method, "Terminal block with Push-In Plus technology" for device and control panel makers in need of "downsizing and space-saving" of control panel equipment and control panels, "lead time reduction" and "response to globalization." We have expanded the product lineups built on common design platform to 17,250 models in 53 categories since its first introduction in April 2016. The products have been adopted on the front line of manufacturing by more than 15,000 global companies and produced the following effects.

A manufacturer of semiconductor production equipment reduced the control panel size by approximately 30% and the wiring lead time by half.
A manufacturer of food production equipment reduced the control panel size by approximately 40%, and improved the ease-of-cleaning of the equipment.

Overwhelming lineups of control panel equipment that innovate control panel manufacturing

(*) Largest in the industry: As categories of control panel equipment
Based on OMRON investigation in September 2019.

OMRON set forth a strategic concept called "innovative-Automation" consisting of three innovations or "i's"--"integrated" (control evolution), "intelligent" (development of intelligence by ICT), and "interactive" (new harmonization between people and machines). OMRON is now committed to bringing innovation to manufacturing sites by materializing this concept. With a wide range of FA devices with the unified design platform, OMRON will continue to work with manufacturers for the innovation of manufacturing by meeting a variety of challenges in manufacturing control panels.

New products to be sold and their features:

Low Voltage Switching Gears: J7KC, J7TC, J7MC, J7KCA, and J7KCR
Low Voltage Switching Gears with Push-in Plus terminal block conforming to the unified design concept will be released. They are ideal for motor applications including conveyors and pumps up to 2.2 kW. Push-In Plus wiring technology that can be used with stranded wires also contributes to further reduction of wiring work.

In addition, by covering the motor application with unified design products, we will improve the efficiency of customer control panel production by reducing design work in the upstream design phase, maintenance work and saving space.

DC Electronic Circuit Protectors: S8V-CP
The DC Electronic Circuit Protectors, S8V-CP series that realizes branches of the 24 VDC load and reliable protection for each branch will be released. Compared with general thermal magnetic circuit protectors, 8-branch models can reduce the width by approximately 70%. In addition, it is possible to perform reliable tripping with electronic circuits. And the rated output current can be changed in the range of 2 A to 10 A, making it possible to respond to sudden design changes. Push-In Plus terminal blocks contribute to less wiring work and equipment downsizing.

Sockets with Push-In Plus technology: PTF-□□-PU
Sockets with Push-In Plus technology PTF-□□-PU series are added to the PTF Socket series for LY Bi-power Relays. The terminal blocks with Push-In Plus technology reduce wiring and maintenance work. The double-wire method that realizes common and crossover wiring is easier to use than the screw terminal block type.

In addition, MY, LY, and G2RS series have completed our general-purpose relay lineup of Push-In Plus terminal blocks. This unifies wiring methods and tools, contributing to further efficiency.
