OMRON aims to create social and economic value and maximize corporate value in its long-term vision,"Shaping the Future 2030 (SF2030)" In order to clarify its commitment to society, OMRON aims to be a company that continues to provide value to society for the realization of a sustainable society. In addition to financial targets, OMRON has set 10+1 non-financial targets as management goals.
The +1 target is a declaration that each region will act on its local communities in accordance with OMRON's sustainability policy.
Unilaterally set goals from the head office may not lead to solutions to social issues that truly suit the region. In order to solve social issues in the region, local employees need to think for themselves and take actions to solve them autonomously together with the region.
In line with this, OMRON leverages the individual initiatives of its employees to support their community-based social contribution activities.

OMRON's circle of "+1 goals" has expanded to over 30 countries and regions.
With the world's largest population of approximately 1.43 billion, India is beset with serious environmental problems, in addition to large income and regional disparities. There, OMRON AUTOMATION PVT LTD., which is responsible for sales and marketing of control equipment in the country, is implementing Sustainability Heroes, its unique program in which each employee sets health promotion and skill-raising goals, and points are granted to those who take actions toward their daily goals. Under this program, one tree is planted for every 500 points employees earn, helping them achieve their goals while contributing to environmental conservation. More than 30 trees have been planted within six months from the program's launch.
For China, with a population of 1.4 billion, providing equal educational opportunities to all of its people is one of the nation's top priorities. A 2022 survey* found that rural elementary school children have fewer books, and there is a gap in children's reading opportunities between urban and rural areas. OMRON (China) Co., Ltd., in cooperation with the China Guanghua Foundation, has launched a public welfare project, Fostering Fairness in Education and Brightening the Child's Heart, with the aim of improving and revitalizing rural education. Via the foundation, OMRON (China) has donated 21,068 books to primary schools in Jiange County, Sichuan Province, and 23,913 books to primary schools in Zhengfeng County, Guizhou Province.
In the northern part of California, the U.S., which is suffering from a series of massive forest fires due to climate change, OMRON employees make a difference by organizing restoration activities and tree-planting campaigns in the disaster-stricken areas.
As exemplified by these initiatives designed to cater to region-specific social issues, OMRON keeps challenging itself to contribute to a better society.

In Europe, OMRON employees keep themselves busy contributing to local communities in a bid to achieve our self-set "+1 goal" of "supporting people from disadvantaged or vulnerable groups* in enhancing their employability."
In 2022, we were able to provide a very diverse group with internships, training, education, and job opportunities, which we hope will help them enhance their skills, knowledge, and employability. Some of our colleagues have put in a lot of extra effort to help those in our program expand their capabilities, which takes time and commitment from us all to execute successfully.
The "+1 goal" gives us the wonderful opportunity to highlight the difficulty these people have and offer them the tools to shape a future together with the members of the local community. Everyone has the right to achieve happiness through work and contribution to society. We recognize that not everyone has the same chances in life, and we wish to support them accordingly. Our goal is to create a society where "fairness" is valued.
It is out of this desire that we deliberately chose this cause as our "+1 goal," to show our continued commitment to standing by and supporting those who may find themselves in a challenging environment.
For OMRON, this challenging but worthy cause is a way to contribute to society and create a sustainable future for all.
