OMRON RFID Announces Support for Sybase RFID Anywhere

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASENovember 7, 2007

Schaumburg, Illinois, USA - OMRON RFID (TOKYO: 6645; ADR: OMRNY) today announced availability of a Sybase RFID Anywhere hardware connector1 for its V750 RFID UHF Gen2 reader. RFID Anywhere is a software infrastructure that provides a robust, customizable environment for developing and managing radio frequency identification (RFID) and sensor network solutions of all sizes.

The OMRON V750 RFID reader runs on a real-time operating system (RTOS) that delivers fast, consistent, reliable performance to meet the high speed requirements of today's supply chain, packaging and manufacturing operations. The V750, OMRON's flagship reader, will incorporate the Company's recently announced area control technology, which provides not only RFID tag travel direction and distance measurement from a single antenna, but also supports user-definable read zones.

"RFID Anywhere's new hardware connector allows users to take full advantage of the OMRON V750 RFID reader's capabilities," said Masa Kameyama, US Division Manager of OMRON RFID. "The V750 reader has built up a solid reputation for quality, robustness and high read performance. Using RFID Anywhere, customers can quickly and simply deploy the V750 in larger intelligent sensor networks to achieve new levels of business process visibility."
Tony Woods, Partner Development Manager for Sybase, said, "The hardware connector built specifically for the V750 exposes the unique characteristics and capabilities of the reader. By integrating the V750 into RFID Anywhere, organizations can leverage RFID Anywhere's device management capabilities, such as power management and real-time device monitoring. Users can take advantage of RFID Anywhere's distributed architecture, event-driven development model and support for other sensors to easily build innovative and effective projects."
The OMRON V750 hardware connector for use with the free RFID Anywhere Developer Edition software can be downloaded immediately from the RFID Anywhere Insider Developer Community:
