OMRON Corporation (HQ: Shimogyo-Ku, Kyoto. This index evaluates efforts toward LGBTQ+ and other sexual minorities beyond the frameworks of companies and organizations using five indicators: "Policy," "Representation," "Inspiration," "Development," and "Engagement/Empowerment."

OMRON's human capital strategic vision under SF2030 is rooted in the corporate philosophy of "contributing to a better society," envisioning a workplace where the company and its employees choose each other and grow together. Central to this vision is a strong commitment to diversity that empowers the performance of a wide range of talent. As part of these efforts, OMRON has introduced LGBTQ+ initiatives across three key areas: promoting understanding, developing inclusive systems, and fostering a supportive environment. We believe these sustained and comprehensive actions have been instrumental in achieving this positive evaluation.

OMRON's major initiatives related to sexual minorities, including LGBTQ+ are:

  • Establishment of human rights committees and hotlines for harassment and diversity issues at all business locations in Japan
  • Implementation of human rights training for all employees, including the promotion of understanding toward LGBTQ+s
  • Disseminate information regularly for better understanding of LGBTQ+s
  • Conducting training for HR, recruitment staff, and managers both inside and outside the company to promote understanding of LGBTQ+
  • Program revisions for inclusion of same-sex partners in the definition of a spouse in human resource, programs, human resource rules, and welfare programs (Implemented in March 2019)
  • Revision of HR and benefit programs to include common-law marriage in the definition of family (in force since April 2021)
  • Sponsorship of activities by external LGBTQ+ related organizations

OMRON strives to become a corporate group that encourages a diverse assembly of people with varied thoughts and value perceptions to fully demonstrate their capabilities and bring out their unique potential. This goal aligns with the group's corporate philosophy: "Respect for All" under its mission: to improve lives and contribute to a better society through its businesses.
OMRON will continue contributing to the creation of a better and sustainable society where individuals and companies grow together by fostering an environment that allows each one of its diverse employees to fully demonstrate their capabilities.
