OMRON, Starts Production using Solar Power at All Domestic Factories of Device & Module Solutions Business Contributing to Decarbonized Society by providing carbon neutral device and modules by switching to renewable energy

OMRON Corporation (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; President and CEO: Junta Tsujinaga) will start production using solar power generation systems at five production sites in Japan for OMRON Device & Module Solutions Company on May 15th, 2023. This is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1,200 tons per year. By accelerating the provision of devices and modules produced from clean energy, it aims to achieve 100% renewable energy use at its production sites in Japan by fiscal 2024, thereby contributing to carbon neutrality across the entire supply chain.

In its long-term vision, 窶彜haping the Future 2030 (SF2030),窶 OMRON identified 窶彝esolving social issues through our business窶 and 窶廣chieving decarbonization and lower environmental impact窶 as two of its material sustainability issues. As for " Achieving decarbonization and lower environmental impact," OMRON縲has declared to achieve OMRON Carbon Zero, a goal to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions from its own sites by the year 2050, and has set a goal of expediting Carbon Zero at all 76 sites in Japan by the end of FY2024. *1

OMRON Device & Module Solutions Company has completed the installation of solar power generation systems at five production sites in Japan and will begin production using solar power. OMRON Device & Module Solutions Company has set its growth strategy of offering new value corresponding on "Green, Digital, and Speed窶 to achieve its long-term vision. As part of the initiative of 窶廨reen窶, which aims to create solutions that contribute to the environment, it is expanding the 窶廛MS*2 GREEN PROJECT窶 in order to support the initiatives of realizing carbon neutrality of our customers. In this project, it is working on creating products, technologies and solutions, that support the realization of carbon neutrality across the entire supply chain by linking our three initiatives of 窶弃RODUCTS窶, 窶弃ROCESS窶 and 窶弃URCHASE窶. We will further accelerate the use of clean energy in the 窶弃ROCESS窶 by switching to renewable energy. Through these initiatives, it will contribute to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the entire supply chain.

OMRON will contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society through environmentally friendly manufacturing.
