OMRON SINIC X Research Paper Accepted to Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction, a Top Journal in HCI

OMRON SINIC X Corporation (HQ: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masaki Suwa, hereinafter "OSX") today announced that its latest research paper has been accepted for publication in the Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction (PACMHCI), a top-tier journal in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

PACMHCI) is a journal for research relevant to multiple aspects of the intersection between human factors and computing systems. The scope of this journal includes research contributions in new systems for input and output, studies of user experiences with computing systems, scholarship on the individual and group effects of computer mediation, and societal impacts of new human computer interactions.

The accepted research paper will be presented at The 28th ACM SIGCHI Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work & Social Computing (CSCW), which will be held in Bergen, Norway, from October 18 to October 22 (local time). The following provides an overview of the paper.

笆Poet-Weaver: Reflecting on Communication Failure in Personal Relationships With Stylized AI-Generated Conversation Digests

Authors Seraphina Yong (OSX, University of Minnesota), Chi-Lan Yang (The University of Tokyo), Atsushi Hashimoto (OSX), Hideaki Kuzuoka (The University of Tokyo), Shigeo Yoshida (OSX)
Research Introduction Poet-Weaver is an AI-assisted tool designed to support reflection in close interpersonal relationships--especially those between individuals from different cultural backgrounds, such as intercultural friendships.
Based on users' chat histories, the AI generates poetic summaries that gently surface subtle emotional dynamics and moments of miscommunication.
Rather than providing direct feedback, these stylized and openly-interpretable poems preserve users' sense of agency and encourage mutual reflection and dialogue.
In a study with 30 intercultural friend pairs, Poet-Weaver helped participants address communication failures and deepen their understanding of each other.
This research presents a new possibility for AI--not as a decision-maker, but as a poetic companion that gently weaves human relationships.
Presentation Date and Time at CSCW October 20, 2025, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (local time)
