  5. Message from Newly Appointed Outside Audit & Supervisory Board Member Yumiko Ichige

My name is Yumiko Ichige, and I have been appointed as an Outside Audit & Supervisory Board Member. Since my registration as an attorney in 1989, I have consistently engaged in corporate legal affairs. From 2009, I served for approximately three years as an officer of the bar association, and thereafter, I have held positions as an outside officer at listed companies in various industries.

In the week following the Shareholders’ Meeting, a three-day intensive training session for newly appointed Audit & Supervisory Board Members was held. During this training, I received detailed explanations regarding corporate philosophy, medium- to long-term management strategies, and the current status and challenges of each company. I was deeply impressed by the well-thought-out measures that enable newly appointed officers to quickly become part of active discussions. Furthermore, in the Audit & Supervisory Board, we are currently taking time to conduct thorough and essential discussions in formulating this fiscal year’s audit plan. I feel proud to be involved, as an Audit & Supervisory Board Member, in OMRON’s governance practices, which have earned high recognition even from outside the company, and at the same time, I am keenly aware of the heavy responsibility of contributing to their further evolution.

Governance and management strategy are inseparable. OMRON’s management team is advancing structural reforms with a strong sense of speed to address the changes in the current business environment. As an Outside Audit & Supervisory Board Member, I feel the need not only to perform conventional defensive audit activities, but also to conduct high-precision monitoring from a proactive governance perspective, one that takes into account the time axis and closely observes the risks of failing to do what must be done now (inaction). Drawing on my experience as an attorney and as an outside officer at other companies, I will do my utmost to contribute in any way possible.
