Automated Vegetable Packaging System Reduces Manual Labor
Due to the cold climate, the harvesting season in Canada is short and the agricultural sector depends heavily on seasonal migrant workers for harvesting activities. The travel restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic catapulted the country into a labor shortage which impacted food production. To overcome this problem, OMRON Canada Inc. collaborated with a partner to develop a solution for automated sorting of vegetables that differ greatly in shape & size. In addition to automating vegetable packaging, the solution enabled deploying labor in more challenging tasks thereby increasing their skills and earning potential. Let’s know more about this special project!
