OMRON Selected as one of the First SX Brands - Receives high rating for its unique sustainability initiatives -

OMRON Corporation (HQ: Shimogyo-Ku, Kyoto. President and CEO: Junta Tsujinaga) announced today that it has been selected as one of the 窶彜X Brand 2024窶 by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE).

The SX brand is an initiative to recognize the generation of long-term and sustainable corporate value by synchronizing the sustainability of society with that of itself while carrying out the necessary management and business reforms.

METI and TSE have started a project for selecting and awarding, as SX Brands, a group of progressive companies that are enhancing their ability to create a source of funds for growth in a sustainable manner through SX to improve corporate value. They expect that by publicizing SX Brands, outstanding companies窶 progressive efforts for SX management will be disseminated among a wide range of other Japanese companies. This will increase dialogues and engagement with investors inside and outside Japan thereby not only expanding investment in Japan but also improving the evaluation of Japanese companies in capital markets.

  1. Setting a clear picture of what we want by backcasting and forecasting
    In the examination of the long-term vision "Shaping the Future 2030(SF2030)," OMRON窶冱 original future prediction theory "SINIC Theory" assumes that 2030 and beyond will be "The Autonomous Society" where the pursuit of social affluence and individuality are compatible. Among the various environmental changes toward The Autonomous Society, the company has set three social issues, " Achievement of Carbon Neutrality," " Realization of a Digital Society," and " Extension of Healthy Life Expectancies," as the social issues on which OMRON can create the greatest impact by taking advantage of its strengths in automation, customer assets, and business assets. In addition, to solve this social issue, OMRON has set up 4 main domains: Industrial Automation, Healthcare Solutions, Social Solutions, and Device & Module Solutions. In 2023, OMRON established a new Data Solution business, which has evolved from a manufacturing business to a data utilization solution business.

  2. Human Resources Strategy to Achieve Long-Term Vision
    OMRON has selected the most important positions for driving OMRON's sustainable growth and business model transformation as its Global Core Positions. It has placed leadership personnel (Successor, the next level of leadership talent) in the right positions in a timely manner. In order to achieve the long-term vision, OMRON has also been able to realize smooth human resource turnover by identifying and nurturing human resources as early as 5 to 10 years from now.

  3. Setting KPIs for Social Value by Business
    In the corporate value creation model, the value created is clearly set for each business, and the process of value creation is visualized by creating a logic model. A unique "social value KPI" is set, which indexes the content corresponding to "OUTPUT" of the logic model. For example, in the control equipment business, the company aims for sustainable automation that achieves coexistence with the global environment and the satisfaction of working while advancing manufacturing and contribution to the creation of a sustainable society. "Innovative Automation!" is provided as a solution, and the number of adopted customers is included in this KPI as an indicator of sustainable growth.
