We are Shaping the Future! Showcasing Success Stories as We Innovate for a Sustainable Tomorrow
OMRON has identified the achievement of carbon neutrality as one of the social issues to be addressed in its long-term vision, "Shaping the Future 2030 (SF2030)."
One of our initiatives toward achieving carbon neutrality is to enhance energy productivity. The traditional energy conservation methods emphasize "reducing energy consumption." However, OMRON aims to go beyond this conventional approach by focusing on energy productivity. This involves improving efficiency by reducing energy consumption while increasing production output and efficiency.

Sone: Initially, we were uncertain about how to begin improving energy productivity. However, by analyzing actual data from our manufacturing sites, we clarified the issues and engaged in concrete discussions to address them. Consequently, the operating rate of the board mounting line at the Matsusaka Factory increased by 1.4 times. We anticipate a reduction in energy consumption by approximately 20%, and energy productivity is also expected to improve by 1.75 times.
This time, we took on the challenge of improving our own factory, but I believe there is still more we can do. Previously, energy reduction was managed by environmental and sustainability teams and was seldom a direct mission at the manufacturing site. However, we now understand that activities to improve productivity in the field themselves will lead to the realization of a sustainable society. We will continue to contribute to the achievement of carbon neutrality by engaging in improvement activities based on ideas from the field.

As climate change countermeasures become urgent due to global warming, COP29, an international conference to address these issues, will be held in Azerbaijan, located in Central Asia and the Caucasus, from November 11 to November 22, 2024. OMRON, aiming to create a society that balances safe, secure, and convenient lifestyles with environmental preservation, will exhibit for the first time at the COP29 Japan Pavilion Virtual Exhibition, organized by the Ministry of the Environment.
Through the Virtual Exhibition, OMRON will introduce its technologies and solutions that contribute to achieving carbon neutrality, addressing global challenges like climate change.
