OMRON VENTURES CO., LTD. (HQ: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tomoko Inoue) is pleased to announce that it has invested in Ubiden, Inc. (HQ: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO & Co-founder: Norio Yamaguchi), a provider of an electric vehicle (EV) IoT charging service.

In an attempt to resolve problems caused by global climate change, the Japanese Government has pledged itself to achieve carbon neutrality, a state of net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, by 2050. In order to realize a sustainable society, individuals must take the initiative to make changes in their lifestyles.
To address this major social challenge, Ubiden provides WeCharge, an innovative EV IoT charging service that gives people easy access to electricity. Driven by the mission, “You must design the future of electricity,” this tech startup designs an electricity grid that allows people to freely use their preferred electricity, anywhere, anytime, unrestricted by location or the planet’s health.
Launched in 2021, WeCharge supports EV charging infrastructure, which is essential in popularizing EVs, by developing an electricity grid that allows people to charge their battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) easily according to their needs in a variety of places, such as condominium parking lots, company premises, and commercial facilities.
