Healthcare services system development

INTERVIEW 01

Why did you choose OMRON DIGITAL when you were job hunting?

When I was job hunting, I wanted to work on systems that really serve the public, especially in the medical and healthcare fields. OMRON DIGITAL develops software for the Omron Group, which runs socially important businesses in healthcare, railways, and finance. That matched what I was looking for, so I chose it as my employer.

I think many people who join Omron say that one of their reasons is the corporate philosophy. In my case, to be honest, I was not very aware of the corporate philosophy before joining. However, after entering the company, I encountered it often and was surprised by how much importance was placed on it. Looking back after joining, I felt glad I chose Omron, because its philosophy of strong social contribution aligned well with the principles I had in mind during my job search.

INTERVIEW 02

What kind of work are you currently responsible for?

My department mainly develops systems in the medical and healthcare fields. Within that, I work especially on smartphone and web application development. At present, I am responsible for systems such as one that supports the management of childhood asthma and another that enables remote medication treatment for hypertension patients. I handle not only domestic systems but also those for overseas use.

My tasks are wide-ranging, from requirements definition to design, implementation, and testing. The real challenge lies in organizing customer requests into requirements and specifications, and then fully translating them into design and implementation.

INTERVIEW 03

Please share an episode where you felt fulfillment, excitement, or joy in your work.

There was a time when a system I had worked on was featured in newspapers and online news. It was the first system I was in charge of after joining the company, and although it involved many struggles, I felt happy realizing that I had contributed to developing a system that society truly expects.

I also feel joy and fulfillment in being given so many experiences from an early stage. In my first year, I was only responsible for individual functions and often felt frustrated because I could not grasp the overall picture of the system. From my second year onward, I was involved in everything from top-level requirements definition to downstream processes, which greatly expanded both my understanding of the system as a whole and the scope of my work. Although I still face anxieties and difficulties due to inexperience, I am glad that by gradually expanding what I can do, I can be of greater help to customers and my team.

INTERVIEW 04

What are your goals and dreams for the future?

It may not sound like much, but for now my immediate goal is to do work that I can be satisfied with. In work, there are always troubles and obstacles, and it is not always possible to perform to your own satisfaction. Some issues cannot be changed by one person alone. But even then, rather than giving up by saying it cannot be helped, I want to involve the people around me and work to move things in a better direction. By building up such experiences day by day and continuing to grow, I want to become someone who can provide value to customers, colleagues, and ultimately to society, and who can meet their expectations and earn their trust.

As an employee of OMRON DIGITAL and as an engineer, if I can deliver systems to society in a way that makes people say, “I’m glad I entrusted this to the company. I’m glad I entrusted this to this person. I want to ask them again next time,” then nothing would make me happier.
