INTERVIEW 01
When I first started job hunting, I had the vague idea that I wanted to make use of what I had studied as a student and contribute to society through software technology.
As my job hunting progressed, I began to feel a desire to support social infrastructure through the power of software. I started applying to companies where I could work on supporting the social infrastructure that I myself rely on in daily life by using software technology.
Because I felt connected with Omron’s corporate motto: “With our work, we improve lives and create a better society,” I decided to choose OMRON DIGITAL.
INTERVIEW 02
At present, I am responsible for developing station operations equipment such as ticket vending machines and ticket gates. In particular, my work focuses on “fare data” and “fare calculation modules,” which are essential for these machines to operate.
For ticket vending machines, the price varies depending on the type of ticket purchased and the route. For ticket gates, it is necessary to determine whether a passenger is allowed to pass through and to deduct the fare amount from the IC card balance according to the travel route.
Each time, it is necessary to calculate the correct fare and charge the customer accurately, with neither overcharging nor undercharging.
INTERVIEW 03
When I see customers actually using the software I designed, or when I have the chance to use it myself, I feel a sense of achievement, fulfillment, and joy.
When we use the railway in daily life, we expect that station operations equipment will be of high quality (there will be no errors in fare collection, etc.). Under this kind of pressure from society, we must release new software without causing quality issues. That is why we constantly have to think, “Why can we say this software has no defects?” as we carry out development and testing, which can be very challenging.
However, I feel a strong attachment to the software that I release after overcoming such challenges, and when I see it actually operating in society, it gives me pride in my work.
INTERVIEW 04
There are two goals.
The first is to become a professional who can continually deliver value to society. I want to provide solutions through software technology that make people’s lives safer and more comfortable. To achieve this, I intend to gain broad work experience and keep improving myself every day so that I can build up wide-ranging knowledge and insight.
The second is to build a team where we can continue working with enjoyment. My motto is to approach work with a sense of “enjoyment” in everything I do. I believe people perform at their best when they are engaged in something they enjoy. That is why I want to keep thinking of and putting into practice ways to create an environment where we can work with both security and enjoyment.
