Station operations system development

INTERVIEW 01

Why did you choose OMRON DIGITAL when you were job hunting?

I decided to join OMRON DIGITAL because I wanted to be involved in manufacturing that is essential for society through software development. My job search was centered on the desire to work in software development. During the process, I attended the Omron Group’s company information session, where I learned about the business areas and heard from senior employees. From their stories, I gained the impression that Omron contributes to society through software development in fields such as FA control equipment and station operations systems, and I found that very appealing. What attracted me most was the chance to create products that benefit society across different fields through software development, and that led me to choose OMRON DIGITAL.

INTERVIEW 02

What kind of work are you currently responsible for?

At present, I am involved in the development of ticket vending machines used in stations. My work includes designing the machines and debugging to confirm their operation after design. Specifically, I prepare documents based on the specifications and then check whether the machines operate according to those documents. Most recently, I worked on updating the display and printing of transaction history, which is one of the functions on the ticket vending machine’s user interface, in line with specification changes. In addition, during the periods for new employee training or transfers, I also prepare training materials as part of the training process.

INTERVIEW 03

Please share an episode where you felt fulfillment, excitement, or joy in your work.

I feel happy when the parts I designed take visible shape. On one project, I was tasked to design part of a ticket vending machine function and was allowed to modify the program myself. It was my first time going through the design process, and since I was not familiar with much of the work, I often felt unsure. I was able to complete the program by doing some research on unclear points and repeatedly asking questions to my senior colleagues. When I saw the modified section actually working, I found real enjoyment in design work. And when the project was successfully released in the end, I felt the sense of achievement and fulfillment.

I also feel glad about my work when I see the ticket vending machines I helped develop actually being used in stations. Watching them in operation gives me a sense of achievement and joy.

INTERVIEW 04

What are your goals and dreams for the future?

First, I want to build up more knowledge and work experience with the ticket vending machines I am currently working on. I believe the ability to quickly identify problems and their causes and to propose accurate solutions comes from accumulating knowledge and experience. Since I expect to face many problems in future work as well, I want to continue absorbing knowledge about the equipment so that I can resolve those issues effectively.

Recently, I have had opportunities not only to design but also to make proposals. Because of this, I want to broaden my perspective so that I can work on any kind of assignment, while deepening my knowledge of software. For this, I believe it is important to organize what I learn and put it into practice and use my experiences for my personal growth. I want to continue building up knowledge and experience through my work, and make use of what I gain in future projects.
