INTERVIEW 01
As a university student, I majored in software for human physiological systems and conducted research aimed at building a safe, secure, and comfortable society. When job hunting, I was also looking for a company that shared this purpose. I became interested in Omron because I found that products such as financial equipment and station operations equipment contributed to creating the kind of society I was aiming for. As I learned more, I came across Omron’s corporate motto: “With our work, we improve lives and create a better society.” I strongly sympathized with the idea of working not only for my own improvement but also to contribute to society. Among the group companies, I chose OMRON DIGITAL because software not only drives the ubiquitous society and IoT, but I also believed it could apply to technologies related to my own research theme—intuitive control of movement (biological control). Since OMRON DIGITAL is the only software company in the Omron Group, I felt it was the right place for me.
INTERVIEW 02
I am engaged in the development of application software for ATMs.
When it comes to ATMs, Omron developed the world’s first online cash dispenser in 1971. I feel both honored and proud to be working on a product that carries such a strong legacy of Omron's commitment.
Currently, I am part of the next-generation ATM development team, where I am responsible for one of the functions. Because ATMs handle cash, they must meet the highest quality standards, and I work with constant attention to maintaining that quality.
INTERVIEW 03
The time I felt the most fulfillment was when a system I had worked on went into operation successfully.
During development, there were constant challenges. For example, changes in customer requirements or shortcomings in my own software design often led to rework. In such cases, I had to confirm and align the effects across multiple related functions, which was very demanding in terms of ensuring quality.
After spending more than six months on development, when the system passed all testing, was shipped, and I heard that it was operating smoothly on-site, I felt a strong sense of achievement for all the time and effort that had gone into it.
INTERVIEW 04
In the future, I would like to be involved in management work.
As we work toward building a better society, there will continue to be demand for equipment and systems beyond ATMs. For example, if flying cars become a reality, rules and systems will be needed to display and control traffic. I feel that as new things continue to emerge, I want to contribute to creating new social needs by making use of the “+think” capabilities that Omron has developed.
I believe that in order to continuously take on challenges and build a better society, it is not enough to act as a single contributor. It requires projects on the scale of dozens of people. To play an active role at the center of such projects, I want to strengthen my management skills.
