INTERVIEW 01
I initially thought of the Omron Group only as a medical device company, but I became interested when I learned that it is also active in many other fields such as control equipment and station operations equipment. I was also drawn to the company’s philosophy, expressed in its corporate motto, “With our work, we improve lives and create a better society,” as well as the belief that “it is our responsibility to make the society we live in better.” This made me want to work for the Omron Group.
Among its group companies, I chose OMRON DIGITAL because it contributes broadly across many fields through software, and I wanted to play a role in creating a better society through that work. Although I majored in physics at university and had no programming experience, I learned that OMRON DIGITAL welcomes people regardless of their academic background and offers comprehensive training. That gave me the confidence to choose OMRON DIGITAL.
INTERVIEW 02
My main assignment is verification work for the optical board inspection system (AOI), and I also get involved in development tasks for the X-ray board inspection system (AXI). In my primary role, I focus on system testing of the AOI. I also handle cases where bugs have been fixed in the AOI or in related applications used around it. Together with the test team, which has a broad understanding of the overall system, I carry out impact range testing to confirm how far the changes extend. This work includes everything from designing the tests to running them.
INTERVIEW 03
The first time I felt joy and a sense of achievement after joining the company was when I completed an entire round of system testing for a verification project. As part of the test team, I carried out tests such as impact range tests, continuous operation tests, load tests that put stress on servers and other components, version-up and version-down tests to confirm that upgrades and downgrades could be performed correctly, scenario tests to check operation as used by customers, and pre-release tests to ensure functions worked properly before release. These tests took more than a month to complete. During the system testing period, the workload for the test team was very heavy and the days were busy, but when all the tests were finished and the version was released, I still remember feeling both exhausted and proud, with a real sense of accomplishment in knowing, “I was the one who protected the quality of this version.”
INTERVIEW 04
When I joined the company, I had no programming experience. Over the three years I have spent working mainly on verification for the optical board inspection system (AOI), I have developed a range of IT skills and knowledge. I have also had the chance to work on development themes for the X-ray board inspection system (AXI), and through that I feel I have been building my programming skills as well. Looking ahead, my goal is to deepen my knowledge of the AOI system, which I have been involved with since joining, while at the same time establishing my own area of expertise through development themes. I want to become someone about whom others can say, “If it’s about this, ask Fujita.” I aim to carve out such a specialty in both the AOI and AXI systems.
