On July 23, 2015, the Asia Manufacturing Conference was held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Organized by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc., this year's conference featured a speech delivered by Trun Dung, chief representative of OMRON Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.'s Vietnam Representative Office, which is engaged in the industrial automation business. Addressing more than 170 people from local manufacturing companies, Mr. Dung spoke about safety measures for production sites.
In 1996, OMRON established sales offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. Since then, OMRON has contributed to the development of Vietnamese society by offering a variety of solutions in the areas of factory automation, electronic components, automotive electronic components, and healthcare devices. In 2007, OMRON set up a blood pressure monitor factory in Binh Duong Province, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City on the north. Staffed by over 600 members, the factory produces blood pressure monitors that are exported to many countries throughout the world.
After his speech, the conference visitors dropped by the OMRON booth, which showcased a range of OMRON safety devices and introduced applications using demo machines. Many visitors to the OMRON booth were eager to seek advice regarding safety measures optimized for specific production sites.
Continuing to help design factories that ensure safety for workers across Vietnam
In Vietnam, where factory automation is rapidly in progress, implementation of measures to promote machine safety is one of the most important challenges for factories. In his speech, Mr. Dung pointed out that many accidents that take place at factories in Vietnam can be prevented by adopting the concept of risk management. The idea is to incorporate safety design compliant with international standards into the production system under the assumption that accidents can happen anywhere and at any time. Mr. Dung then introduced the underlying concept of risk management and how to implement it, covering everything from techniques for analyzing what kinds of hazards are present in a factory and where, to the adoption of safety actions. Mr. Dung concluded his speech with the following message:
"It is our vision to unleash the potential of workers by realizing optimized production systems. As such, we will continue promoting the concept of risk management in Vietnam so that factories in which anyone can safely engage in production take root in Vietnamese society."
