OMRON Announces Establishment of "Safety Devices Division" to Strengthen Safety Business

Kyoto – OMRON Corporation (TSE: 6645; US:OMRNY) Industrial Automation Business Company(hereafter IAB), a global leader in automation, sensing and control technology, has announced the establishment of “Safety Devices Division” to strengthen its response capability to industrial safety needs. OMRON has established this new department on April 1st, 2005 and will aim sales amount of 15 billion yen in safety business for fiscal year 2007, which is double to the current sales amount.

Positioning of the safety business

IAB business does not only correspond to new industrial needs such as quality, safety and environment, but also positions the safety business as one of the strategic measures to achieve the realization of the growing structure in OMRON’s mid term management design GD2010. Also OMRON provides new values to customers with its original Sensing & Control technology.

Concept of the safety business

Under the safety business concept of “Provide most suitable measures to global users and machine vendors, to secure work place safety”, OMRON will strengthen its global support ability and product lineup. Until now, we have been providing safety components such as safety switches, safety light curtains, safety relays etc, to prevent risks. But the recent globalization and working safety conditions regarding Japan’s manufacturing industry, countermeasures to concerns such as establishing safety designs from the designing stage has been taken seriously. By developing and providing sensing, control components and consulting products that shall prevent danger at the manufacturing site and to achieve the followings, we have established the Safety Devices Division

  1. Provide sensing components and control components as a hardware.
  2. Provide system solution of complicated safety circuits and control circuits.
  3. Consulting for safety designs with our know-how.

With this stronger organization, not only providing components, we will shift to a solution partner that will solve customers unique concerns.]
