-PT OMRON Manufacturing of Indonesia, which has been promoting a convenient and conducive work environment for women for over 20 years, received an Empowerment of Women Award (Bronze) at the GLOBAL CSR SUMMIT AND AWARDS 2016.-

A relay and switch manufacturing company in Indonesia (PT OMRON Manufacturing of Indonesia (OMI)) received an Empowerment of Women Award (Bronze) at the GLOBAL CSR SUMMIT AND AWARDS 2016.


The GLOBAL CSR SUMMIT AND AWARDS 2016 was started 8 years ago as an international awards program that evaluates the corporate social responsibilities (CSR) of companies.
This Awards are given to outstanding individuals and companies in order to raise the awareness of CSR for their contributions in environmental conservation, community transformation and poverty alleviation, women's rights and welfare. The Awards are known for raising cutting edge ideas that significantly influence the world with currently over 200 entries from more than 200 countries and regions.


OMI allows employees to play active roles regardless of gender

Since its establishment in 1992, OMI has been continuously creating a convenient and conducive work environment for women, which allows the employees to play active roles regardless of gender.

The company has improved the work environment by allowing the employees to flexibly arrange work hours to spend more time with their family and by providing additional breaks and childcare time for expectant mothers and mothers. As a result, currently 86% of the employees are females.

OMRON group operates in a way that allows employees to fully exercise their abilities and individualities believing in the potential of all employees based on our management principle "respect for humanity". The company provides opportunities in career advancement based on ability regardless of gender. When OMI was established, only one leadership position was held by a female employee. Today, 30% of the leadership positions are held by females, exceeding 20% (*), the average for Indonesia.

One such person is Rina Avianti. She has been working at OMI for 22 years and progressed from line leader to manager in the relay factory of 900 employees.
"We have improved the environment that allows employees to focus on their work by taking care of employees' personal needs ", said Rina Avianti explaining the attractiveness of the factory.

A day care facility will be built in a section of the factory to provide mothers with nutritional management support with regular doctor visits.
Since 1995, OMI has provided a dormitory for female employees. In the new facility that will be ready by 2017, a recreational center will also be incorporated in the women's dormitory for them to enjoy music, books and exercise.

Irawan Santoso, President Director, shared the joy of receiving the award with the employees by saying "While it is common in Indonesia to employ female workers as line operators, OMI treats all employees equally and provides equal opportunities in career advancement to both genders based on ability. Our female employees have taken on great challenges and seized these opportunities for career development. OMI is deeply honored to receive this award, and we believe that it is our female employees who are the real winners because of their passion and determination for development".
