OMRON selected as "Noteworthy IT Strategy Companies" in the "2017 Survey of Competitive IT Strategies"

May 31, 2017

OMRON Corporation (HQ: Shimogyo-Ku, Kyoto. President and CEO: Yoshihito Yamada) today announced that it was selected as "Noteworthy IT Strategy Companies" by the Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in the "2017 Survey of Competitive IT Strategies."

METI and the Tokyo Stock Exchange launched this annual selection program in 2015 to recognize outstanding efforts as Competitive IT Strategy Company Stocks among listed companies in all industry categories that have leveraged information technology to lift their enterprise value and competitiveness over the medium and long terms.

For 2017, METI has also chosen 21 companies including OMRON as "Noteworthy IT Strategy Companies." This highlights Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed that have deployed initiatives that embrace the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and other advanced technology tools.

OMRON's efforts rated highly in two particular respects:
  1. The chief technology officer closely supervises the Technology & Intellectual Property HQ, ensuring that its operations reflect management's technology strategy perspectives. This officer has spearheaded efforts to transform core and existing technologies with the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
  2. The IT unit leverages skill maps to help enhance individual IT capabilities and cultivate outstanding IT engineers and contribute to enterprise value.
