OMRON Recognized as Supplier Engagement Leader for second consecutive year, in the Highest Accolade in the CDP Supplier Engagement Rating

  • March 12, 2024

OMRON Corporation (HQ: Shimogyo-Ku, Kyoto. President and CEO: Junta Tsujinaga) announced today that it has been recognized as a Supplier Engagement Leader in the Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) conducted by CDP*1, a global non-profit that runs a global environmental disclosure system. OMRON received the highest rating in SER for second consecutive year.

CDP Supplier Engagement

SER assesses how effectively companies engage with their suppliers to address climate change challenges. The companies receiving the highest rating are awarded the status of Supplier Engagement Leaders. In 2023, more than 450 companies that responded to the CDP Climate Change Questionnaire 2023 (full version) were selected as such.

In its long-term vision, Shaping the Future 2030, which was kicked off in April 2022, OMRON identified 窶徨esolving social issues through our business窶 and 窶彗chieving de-carbonization and lower environmental impact窶 as its material sustainability issues in an effort to realize a carbon-neutral society through the provision of its products and services and achieve carbon neutrality at its sites.

In October 2022, OMRON became the first Japanese company in the manufacturing industry to join EP100, a global initiative to improve energy efficiency. By providing technologies and solutions that utilize field data, OMRON is accelerating its efforts to decarbonize production floors throughout the value chain. Moreover, OMRON declared OMRON Carbon Zero, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its sites to zero by 2050, thus expediting Carbon Zero at all 76 sites in Japan by the end of FY2024 while expanding energy saving and energy generation at all global sites. In addition to Scope 1 and 2, OMRON has set a GHG emissions reduction target of 18% by FY2030 (base year: FY2016) for Scope 3 category 11 and acquired a certification from the Science Based Targets initiative*2 (SBTi).

OMRON considers this award to be a result of the high recognition of its commitment to reducing GHG emissions throughout the value chain. OMRON will strive to sustainably increase its corporate value by transforming the challenges posed by carbon neutrality into its competitive edge to meet the expectations of its stakeholders, while remaining committed to the fulfillment of its responsibility to the earth and society.
