Dialogue with Employees
"The KURUMAZA" meeting facilitates direct communication between the president and employees
"The KURUMAZA," a forum of communication between the president and employees, was initially planned to reflect OMRON President Yoshihito Yamada’s desire to strengthen mutual understanding through communication with "gemba" (frontline) staff members. This meeting has been implemented since President Yamada served as the senior general manager of the Strategic Planning Headquarters. There is now a plan to conduct "The KURUMAZA" meetings in business sites throughout the world.
According to President Yamada, the objective of this initiative is to "become aware of the situations and issues confronting staff members working at the business frontline, as well as their viewpoints and concerns, while also letting them get to know me better." He also hopes that this meeting will provide a forum for participants to freely exchange opinions and share issues regarding their workplace and their personal visions. President Yamada believes that direct communication with employees will also provide him with a great deal of energy, and help him consistently maintain this attitude as part of his management style.

Building new Internet-based internal communication media
Aiming to revitalize internal communication, OMRON launched an online communication site called "ONnet" in October 2008. Among other purposes, the site is expected to promote sharing of knowledge and expertise possessed by individual employees and departments across the OMRON Group. This information is regarded as a valuable corporate asset, and will help OMRON build and expand a new human network.
Targeting all OMRON Group employees around the world, ONnet reports on the latest activities of executives and employees on a timely basis. The site also provides a variety of content designed to stimulate interactive communication among employees. For example, it serves as an online community for employees to freely exchange information regarding specific business or matters of interests. A special section for introducing various employees’ "challenge" stories was set up. This helps satisfy the desire of employees to absorb knowhow from other departments or development backgrounds, while gaining motivation from stories of courage demonstrated by others. Since the launch of this site, it has become easier to share the knowledge and expertise of individual employees’ across the entire Group, leading to enhancement of communication at each worksite.
