OMRON Corporation has announced that its Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) BY-Series, distributed in Japan, contained materials which did not comply with OMRON's internal product environment standards.

We sincerely apologize to our customers, business partners and all other stakeholders for the inconvenience and concern this may have caused.

Explanation

1.Overview

A UPS consists of a battery and main unit. OMRON will start a replacement program from August 1 for UPS main units; this replacement does not apply to batteries. If you are using one of the BY series product listed below, and you wish to replace your product, please call our contact number, listed below.
We will have a special pick up container delivered to you for retuning the affected product to us and having the main unit replaced. Kindly be informed that replacing the unit may take about two weeks after we receive your unit.

Please be informed that the affected products comply with applicable environmental regulatory requirements. There are no concerns for harm to health nor issues with the quality. Customers can continue to use their products.

2.Affected Products

(2) How to confirm if your unit is affected
You will find the model (type) at the front of the unit, and the serial numbers on the back or the side of the unit. For the four models BY35S, BY50S, BY80S and BY120S, there are 2 types of serial number labels, depending on when the product was manufactured.

3.Replacement procedure

Please call the UPS contact number listed below if you wish to replace your product or ask questions. Please have your model (type) and serial number available.

We will replace the unit with a compliant one and send it back to you. Kindly be informed that returning the unit to you may take some time after receipt.

For urgent replacement or in case customer intends to replace the parts themselves, Omron can arrange to ship a compliant unit without the battery. Please discuss with the center.

4.Timing of replacement

We will start collecting the units from August 1 (Wed), 2018. The urgent shipment of units excluding the battery will start from August 1 as well.
