OMRON Releases Hand Gesture Recognition Software with Improved Hand Shape Recognition Accuracy

September 26, 2013

Kyoto, Japan -- OMRON Corporation (TSE: 6645, ADR: OMRNY) will release the following new products on October 1.

  • WL-N Double-Pole Limit Switches

Since the WL Limit Switches were first introduced in 1959, they have endured as long sellers for over half a century. Now OMRON has integrated the expertise gained over those 54 years with state-of-the-art technology to create the new WL-N Limit Switches that provide the same shapes, installation dimensions, and performance, and yet are even easier to use.

Limit switches are used in industrial machines and facilities to detect the presence, passing, or positions of objects. Miniature basic switches are built into metal or resin cases to protect them from vibration, shock, water, oil, dust, and dirt. They can therefore be used in locations that require mechanical strength and resistance to the application environment.

The new WL-N Limit Switches provide the following features to make them easier to use.

  1. Easy to Select
    • The contact form and roller lever head structure have been standardized to greatly reduce product model specifications.
  2. Easy to Wire
    • Resin and elastomer resistance has replaced the insulating paper that often hurt the efficiency of wiring work.
    • Steel screws that are attracted by magnetic screwdrivers have been used to help prevent screws from dropping during wiring work.
    • Downsizing of the built-in switches has increased the space to house the wiring.
  3. Easy to See
    • A 3D light-dispersing structure has been used on models equipped with operating indicators, which provides higher viewability.

WL-N Limit Switches with roller levers will be available from October 1, 2013 (*1). Models with plungers, flexible rods, and forked lever locks are scheduled for marketing on April 1, 2014. OMRON will continue to expand our lineup to meet the needs of our customers into the future.

(*1) Molded models, high-precision models, long-life models, and corrosion-resistant models are also scheduled for marketing on April 1, 2014.
