Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC) where "Elecrama 2016" was held

India announced the "Make in India" policy in September 2014. The whole nation is striving to become one of the world's important manufacturing bases.

It is believed that the needs for the efficiency and sophistication in manufacturing activities will rise more than ever in manufacturing sites in India.

OMRON exhibited its largest level of booth (in India so far) at the exhibition "Elecrama 2016" held in Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC) for 5 days from February 13 through 17, 2016, and displayed its latest products and services that contribute to future manufacturing activities in India. During the period, approximately 25,000 visitors came to the OMRON booth.

Visitors experienced the harmony between people and machines.

At the booth, approximately 800 visitors experienced the "harmony between people and machines", an image of the future where machine brings out human ability, through rallies with the ping-pong robot "FORPHEUS" that has been the talk of the town in various parts of the world, and the booth was engulfed by surprise.

Railway Minister Sh. Suresh Prabhu visited the OMRON booth and enjoyed OMRON's latest technologies through the experience of rallies with "FORPHEUS".

"FORPHEUS" got the attention of many journalists as one of the most interesting displays at "Elecrama 2016", and we received a lot of media coverage, in leading mainlines and industry media (Samyukhta Karnataka, Bangalore Mirror, Vishwavani, Eenadu and Hindu Business Line and so on)

Part of the industrial automation zone

India is not only one of the largest automobile production bases in the world, but also the country where approximately one fifth of generics in the world are produced according to a certain survey.

While ensuring safe and high-quality product manufacturing, the needs for manufacturing activities to increase productivity are on the rise in India.

OMRON is working on manufacturing innovation all over the world by means of 3 "i" automation: "i"ntegrated, "i"ntelligent, and "i"nteractive at production sites.

Under this concept, we proposed world-leading solutions also in India, from 9 approaches of "energy-saving" that India will start in earnest in addition to "productivity", "quality", "safety", "efficiency", "accuracy", "durability", "functionality", and "flexibility".

We also demonstrated total solutions for a machine (Input-Logic-Output-Safety-Robot, input, control, output, safety, and robot).

A machine tool design manager who visited our booth expressed his expectation for advanced solutions by saying, "I was surprised to see the demonstration of technologies and products that I was not familiar with although I have been dealing with OMRON for more than five years. I have become aware of a new OMRON."

Furthermore, an executive of an automobile parts factory expressed his expectation and appreciation by saying, "I am sure that OMRON is a company that represents the FA market also in India. OMRON's FA solutions surely contribute to enhancing productivity and improving maintainability. I am surprised at the robot solution among a lot of wonderful solutions.

Sameer Gandhi who is a managing director of OMRON Automation India mentioned the future directionality of robot technologies that are also attracting attention in India as follows:
"There is some concern that robots will take away jobs. However, robots free people from simple works such as boxing products, and people can form a plan of production using robots and maintain the robots by making use of the time freed from simple works. In other words, robots will help us to increase the number of employees who are engaged in more productive and highly creative works. The government and manufacturing companies will invest to improve personnel skills. OMRON will contribute to develop highly skilled human resources by operating five training centers and enhancing online education in India."

We introduced OMRON's diverse range of business activities and technologies that widely contribute to resolving the issues that Indian society faces by displaying devices to increase automotive safety, devices to self-manage health, and the space projection technology to comprehensively display a three-dimensional figure.

OMRON will continuously support the efficiency and sophistication in manufacturing activities in India and contribute toward the creation of a prosperous society.
