Open, fair and global transactions revolving around the key concept of partnership
The cooperation of suppliers of materials, parts and products is essential for the OMRON Group to create products trusted by its customers and fulfill its social responsibilities in carrying out all its business activities.
With this in mind, OMRON established its purchasing policies in 1999, which clearly stipulate OMRON’s stance of providing all suppliers worldwide with equal opportunities to do business, and placing importance on partnership based on fair and appropriate selection.
To fulfill its corporate social responsibilities (CSR) by involving the entire supply chain, OMRON asks its suppliers to follow eight basic requirements related to quality assurance, environmental preservation, respect for human rights, and appropriate labor practices.

Employee education focusing on fair dealings
OMRON emphasizes employee education regarding the Subcontract Act, which forms the basis for fair dealings with suppliers and subcontractors.
Staff members serving as contacts to deal with suppliers/subcontractors are encouraged to acquire the necessary knowledge by taking part in external seminars and making inquiries to regulatory authorities whenever questions arise. Going forward, OMRON plans to review educational materials by referring to inquiries and other feedback from staff members.
OMRON also works to raise employee awareness regarding the Subcontract Act through the e-learning program targeting all employees across the OMRON Group. In fiscal 2010, OMRON reviewed internal regulations to ensure prevention of delay in payment of subcontract proceeds, a prohibition item stipulated by the Subcontract Act. The revisions in the internal regulations were also reflected in e-learning materials targeting all Group employees. To ensure strict observance of the Subcontract Act, OMRON will continue enhancing the employee education programs.
