Basic approach and related initiatives

On-the-job training (OJT) is a vital pillar of OMRON's capability development system. Complementing the system are the In-house Training System and the Self-education Support System, which can be freely undertaken by employees.

Proactive utilization of "e-learning"

In fiscal 2006, an e-learning self-education system using the Internet and intranet was also actively utilized. In the future, e-learning will be further developed by expanding it to the domestic OMRON Group.

Qualification training Training to teach and put into practice changes in roles and capabilities required for each qualification based on MBO. New manager training, management training, new sales manager training, mid-level employee introductory training
Business leader development training Training to develop business executives based on employees selected for drive and suitability. Mid-level business leader training, junior business leader training
Role-based training Training to acquire the knowledge and skills expected for one's work role. Guidance training for new, general employees, line leader training
Assessment training Training to diagnose and create learning plans for required capabilities. ADD training
Career development support training Training to take "self-inventory" and examine career plans as an opportunity for each employee to review his or her career. Personal life training, personal vision training, personal motivation training, manager vision training
Priority issue training Training to solve priority business issues. Pre-training for overseas posting, business leader training for women
Capability training Training to acquire specialized knowledge and skills required to perform tasks according to job duty and type. Conducted by each company individually

E-learning A system that is operated to complement group training and to support self-education.
Correspondence courses Employees are reimbursed for half of course fees (subject to an upper limit) if the specified correspondence course is completed.
Video library Approximately 600 videos can be borrowed free of charge.
Simplified capability testing system This simplified capability test can be performed free of charge using a Notes database.
Incentive pay for acquiring certifications Incentive pay is provided to employees who acquire specified official certification.
Self-education courses Regular language and other self-education courses are conducted at each place of business.
