Promoting continuous improvement of management
through PDCA cycle
Omron’s policy in enhancing information security is to fulfill its responsibilities to stakeholders by appropriately managing confidential information supplied from business associates, personal information and its own company information to protect them from leakage.
In fiscal 2007, an Information Security Management Committee was set up for the purpose of strengthening an integrated management system covering both confidential information and personal information. New management rules that reflect basic policy were also established. Under the promotion system led by the committee, OMRON has conducted employee education and monitoring to check the status of management at each worksite on a regular basis. Other activities included implementation of measures based on risk analysis for leakage of important information, and surveys to determine the information security management status of subcontractors. Through these activities, improvement of information security is sought based on the implementation of a corporate-wide PDCA cycle.
Each year, management rules are reviewed and revised to reflect changes in the external environment and to incorporate findings from worksite monitoring. In fiscal 2010, a new provision regarding encryption for notebook PCs in use within the company was added to the management rules.
Overseas, in conformance with the common global rules for information security established in fiscal 2007, each Group company worked to establish its own regulations. As a result, all overseas Group companies had completed individual regulations by the end of fiscal 2010. During the fiscal year, information security education was offered at Group companies in some regions. Going forward, OMRON will continually upgrade and maintain information security management throughout the world.
