Green OMRON 21

In conformance with its core value of "working for the benefit of society," OMRON considers environmental protection to be an important management objective for the Group. Based on this awareness, in 1996 OMRON established its Environmental Policy that states the guidelines for the OMRON Group’s environmental preservation activities.

The Environmental Policy states that while working to lessen the negative impact on the environment arising from its business activities, OMRON will also remain committed to developing and promoting products and technologies that help improve the environment. OMRON also aims to implement environmental management practices that enhance both ecology and economy. To build a solid base for environmental management, OMRON will provide all employees with environmental education and awareness-raising opportunities in order to encourage an ecological mindset.

Aiming to put its philosophy and policy into practice, OMRON established "Green OMRON 21" in 2002. This environmental vision determines the direction of OMRON’s environmental management as a "21st century company," and an action plan that clearly identifies focused activities and targets. "Green OMRON 21" is designed to promote activities in six key areas, namely Eco-Management, Eco-Products, Eco-Factories/Laboratories/Offices, Eco-Logistics and Eco-Communication, centering on Eco-Mind. By specifying activities and targets for the years up to fiscal 2010, OMRON Group has exerted maximum efforts to reduce negative environmental impact, toward the aims of achieving the long-term maximization of OMRON’s corporate value and contributing to the development of a sustainable society.
