OMRON considers addressing environmental issues to be one of the most important management objectives for the Group. Accordingly, OMRON makes sure that all Group employees are provided with education and training regarding its environmental policies based on the OMRON Principles.
OMRON implements various environmental education and awareness-raising programs. These programs are intended to encourage all Group employees to demonstrate concern for environmental protection, act on their own initiative and take necessary action, whether at work, at home, in the local community or in society at large. Another aim is to make OMRON serve as the center for heightening environmental awareness at both the local and global levels.
FY2010 Overview
Each year, OMRON conducts awareness-raising activities in the Environment Month of June. In fiscal 2010, the general manager of the Environment Innovation Center of the Global Process Innovation HQ* addressed all Group employees through the ON-net internal communication media as part of these activities. The center is tasked with planning and promoting the OMRON Group’s environmental strategies. In his message, the general manager stressed the need for OMRON to address environmental issues as a company committed to "working for the benefit of society." Solicitation of environmental slogans, which had been discontinued in the previous year, resumed this year, attracting many slogan entries that help enhance the environmental consciousness of employees.
As for environmental education, the corporate headquarters provided new employee education and e-learning programs. In addition, each site planned and conducted its own environmental education programs in order to enhance employee awareness of environmental issues.
At each site, education programs for qualified personnel are also available to help internal environmental auditors and environmental impact assessors to improve their skills.
In fiscal 2010, along with efforts toward acquisition of ISO 14001 certification for the globally integrated environmental management system (G-EMS), a common program for all sites was established that provides specialized education for instructors who train and advise internal environmental auditors and environmental impact assessors.
* In April 2011, the Monozukuri Innovation HQ was renamed the Global Process Innovation HQ. The former Quality & Environment Center was also renamed the Environment Innovation Center in July 2010.

Environmental education
To raise the skills of internal environmental auditors and environmental impact assessors, education for qualified personnel has been offered at each site.
In fiscal 2010, as acquisition of ISO 14001 certification for a multi-site environmental management system was promoted, specialized education was offered for instructors who give guidance to internal environmental auditors and environmental impact assessors at each site as a common EMS program.
