Basic Policies

Considering the construction of an environmental management system (EMS) as the foundation for incorporating environmental commitment into its management practices, OMRON promotes acquisition of ISO 14001 certification at the global level.

Since OMRON’s Ayabe site (factory) first received ISO 14001 certification in 1996, the number of certified sites has steadily increased. To respond to the need for addressing global environmental issues and comply with increasingly strict environmental regulations, OMRON established the environmental policy for the globally integrated multi-site environmental management system (G-EMS) in March 2009, initiating a project aimed at building a global environmental management system.

FY2010 Overview

In fiscal 2010, OMRON Healthcare Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd. received ISO 14001 certification. As a result, 26,572 out of 35,047 employees in the OMRON Group (76%) are now working in ISO 14001-certified sites.

As for G-EMS now being promoted in the OMRON Group, acquisition was completed for 37 sites in Japan and 12 sites in Greater China.

In fiscal 2011, four sites in Japan/Greater China will work on preparing for ISO 14001 acquisition for a multi-site integrated EMS covering the entire Asia-Pacific region, with its completion scheduled for fiscal 2012. Along with this, preparation will be made for ISO certification for multi-site integrated EMS for each of the Americas and Europe, with acquisition aimed at for fiscal 2013. Once accomplished, this will lead to the establishment of a globally integrated ISO 14001-certified EMS.
