Basic Policies
Aiming to preserve limited water resources, OMRON strives to reduce water usage for business activities and promote reuse. At the same time, OMRON is committed to enhancing employee awareness of water resource issues.
FY2010 Overview
In Japan, OMRON worked to maintain water usage at the fiscal 2005 level or less. As a result, the amount of water used in fiscal 2010 was kept at 14% below the fiscal 2005 level, meeting the target. When compared to fiscal 2009, the amount of water used increased 7% at production sites due to recovery in business activities, while the amount decreased 4% at non-production sites.
At overseas sites as well, efforts are being concentrated on upgrading facilities, such as installing water-saving faucets, inspection and improvement of water leaks, and improvement of toilet water purification efficiency, while also enhancing the employee mindset of saving water. Similarly with the situation in Japan, the amount of water used at overseas sites in fiscal 2010 was 10% above the fiscal 2009 level due to increased production volume. However, a 12% decrease was achieved for the amount of water per unit of production.

At the same time, measures are being taken to enhance the conservation mindset among employees to achieve continual improvements for more efficient usage of water.
