Basic Policies

OMRON believes that one of the best ways to realize a sustainable society is to proactively undertake environmental preservation activities and share the results and plans with stakeholders through a variety of media, thereby promoting communication with them.

This is why OMRON is actively involved in CSR (sustainability) reporting through its website, participating in environmental exhibitions, and offering information through various other media.

FY2009 Overview

As part of efforts to reduce costs, in fiscal 2010 OMRON kept participation in environment-related events to a minimum. However, OMRON resumed the publication of the printed version of its Sustainability Report, which was previously discontinued in fiscal 2009. OMRON also strived to effectively use its website and other media that can appeal to a wide-ranging audience with OMRON’s environmental initiatives.

Offering Information through Website

Offering Information through Website

In 1998, OMRON published its first annual environmental report that outlined OMRON’s environmental management philosophy and activities. The report was upgraded in fiscal 2004 to comprehensively cover all aspects of CSR. Since that time, it has been published under the title of the "Sustainability Report," including in-depth reporting of the social and economic (business) aspects of OMRON’s corporate activities, as well as environmental aspects.

To offer corporate information in an easy-to-understand manner, interviews and report-style stories are posted online to introduce OMRON products and examples of environmental preservation activities implemented at OMRON sites.

For the future, OMRON is considering adding the results of questionnaire surveys targeting website visitors and adding a content evaluation function in order to further strengthen two-way communication with stakeholders.

Environmental Exhibitions and Events

OMRON has been an active participant in environmental exhibitions to introduce its eco-friendly products and environmental preservation activities and seek feedback from many stakeholders. In fiscal 2010, however, participation in these events was suspended as part of OMRON’s cost-cutting initiatives.

In the future, OMRON will aggressively take part in environmental exhibitions and other events to introduce OMRON’s environmental solutions designed to contribute to energy-saving and CO2 emissions reduction at home and in offices, as well as more efficient usage of new energy.

Environmental Advertisements

To widely introduce the company's commitment to environmental preservation, as well as its environmentally friendly products and technologies to a wide range of people, OMRON frequently places corporate advertisements in newspapers and magazines.
