Basic approach and related initiatives
In the case of newly purchasing or replacing company-owned cars, OMRON promotes the introduction of eco-friendly cars and fuel-efficient cars, thus striving for energy-saving and the prevention of air pollution.
The number of eco-friendly and fuel-efficient OMRON cars in Japan in fiscal 2006 was 335, which was 68% of the total number of company-owned cars, while the total overseas rose to 79%.
OMRON promotes green purchasing, i.e., it attaches priority to the purchasing of goods, including stationery and OA equipment, that have a low environmental impact. Therefore, OMRON maintains the Strategic Linkage for Intelligent Procurement Management (SLIM) system, and purchases goods based on green procurement standards specified by the SLIM system while promoting measures for correctly assessing records of accomplishment on green procurement.
