Basic approach and related initiatives
The basis of OMRON's procurement policy is to not buy or use any parts or materials that contain regulated substances. Based on this policy, in May 2004 we established the Green Supplier Certification Standards, which include the two following points: 1. Acquisition of ISO 14001 or other third-party certification equivalent to EMAS, and 2. Provision of information on regulated substances contained in parts and materials. In this way, OMRON is promoting green procurement while obtaining the understanding and cooperation of our customers.
Purchases from green suppliers represent 93% of total in Japan
Domestically, 848 companies are certified as green suppliers, and our purchases from green suppliers currentry represent approximately 93% of total parts and materials purchasing costs.
In the future, we will continue to promote green procurement and strive to achieve and maintain the procurement of parts and materials that contain no regulated substances.
